Course Content
TERM 1 Unit 1: Apply basic word recognition strategies, including sight words and phonics, to identify words related to self and others ü Use suitable words to describe self, others and experiences ü Use technology appropriately to create electronic portfolios about themselves ü Make generalizations about self and others based on information collected ü Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of names ü Demonstrate an understanding of the concepts ‘first’ and ‘last’ ü Use simple graphs/ charts to represent class data about self and others ü Creatively present personal information through drama modes, musical compositions and movement ü Respond appropriately to musical cues and symbols ü Follow instructions to create items related to themselves and others ü Demonstrate acceptable social behaviours in varying settings Unit 2: Students will be able to: ü Discuss the different parts of the body and show what they can do ü Accurately identify the words related to the external parts of the body ü Read sight words related to the external parts of the body ü Use singular and plural forms when talking about the external parts of the body ü Compose sentences using capital letters and full stop correctly paying attention to line and space
