Verbs ending with ing Verbs that end with “ing” are used with helping verbs. Helping verbs always comes before the main verb. A helping verb does not show action. Some helping verbs - am, is and are. For example - The students are singing. I am writing a letter to my aunt. In the first example it says " The students are singing." The helping verb is are and the verb is singing. In the second example it says " I am writing a letter to my aunt." The helping verb is am and the verb is writing. Verbs ending with “ing” are used with helping verbs.
