Week 6 – Lesson 1(Past tense – ed)

  • Date December 2, 2020
Grade 2 – Language Arts (2020 – 2021) Week 6 – Lesson 1(Past tense – ed)

Grade: 2
Subject: Language Arts
Date: November 2020
Topic: Past Tense (-ed)

Simple Past Tense (video lessons, examples, explanations)
A past tense Verb tells about something that has already happened. It could have
happened, a while ago, this morning, yesterday, last night, last week, or even last year.
We add –ed to some verbs to show the past tense.
For Example:
play – played    walk – walked
Yesterday we played in the school yard.
Last week my friend and I walked to the bus stop.
As you may recall a verb is a action word and today we  will be practicing how to change
a Verb from the present tense, which means what is happening right now or in the present,
example “I walk” to the past tense, or what already happened example “I walked”.
Read the following story
When I was a little girl my Dad and I decided to go camping. We packed up the car
and set out on our journey. The car needed gas so my Dad went to the gas station and
pumped gas in the tank until it was full.
After driving for two hours we reached the campsite. We pitched the tent and then we
unpack our clothes. After unpacking we walked around the camping area where we
discovered a stream nearby. We went and gathered our fishing gear.
We went and caught some big fish. When we reached home I gathered some wood
and Dad lit a fire and cooked the fish. We ate them hungrily. We then went to bed. The
next day we packed and went back home. We enjoyed our trip very much.
