Equivalent sets are sets that have the same number of elements in them.
Set A and set B must have the same number of elements even if they are not the same things.
Here are some examples of equivalent sets:
In the example above set A has 5 letters of the alphabet and set B has 5 months of the years
so the are equivalent sets. The have the same number of elements.
Set E has 3 faces showing different emotions and set F has numbers in it.
Set E has 3 faces in total and set F has 3 numbers in total; so they are equivalent sets.
Set A has 3 numbers and set B has 5 numbers, do you think they are equivalent sets?
Remember that equivalent sets have the same number of members in them.
If you guessed that they are equivalent sets, you are incorrect but don’t be disheartened keep
practicing and you will soon understand.
The answer is no they are not equivalent sets.
