Gender is used to tell if a noun is male or female creatures of either sex or refers to things without life. Female (Feminine)......... Male (Masculine) ---------- Either male or female (common). Neither male nor female (neuter). Male or female (neuter) 1. If a noun tells about a male, we say the gender is masculine 2. If a noun tells about a female, we say the gender is feminine. 3. If a noun can be used for either a male or a female, we say the gender is common 4. If the noun is used to tell about a noun that cannot be male or female we say the gender is neuter.
