What is an ordinal number?



An ordinal number shows the order of something.



Ordinal numbers can be written in words or as a number, and all but first, second,

 or third end in th. 



In other words ordinal numbers tell the position of things for example in a race we say 
the winner came in first, the runners up came in second and third. 


Another example would be to say Monday is the first day of the week and Sunday is the
seventh.
