Grade 3: Science (2020 -2021) Week 3 – Lesson 1

Grade: 3
Date:  September 27, 2020
Subject:  Science
Topic:  The Stomach

Food enters your body through your mouth.
When you eat the food it goes into the stomach through the
esophagus or gullet.
The stomach muscles contract and relax to mix the food.
Stomach juices are added to this mixture. This new mixture
is called chyme.
The stomach, the small intestine and the large intestine
are made up of layers that help them to digest food properly.
The digested food is passed through the walls of the
small intestine into the blood streams.
The undigested food goes into the large intestine and
stay there for about twenty (20) hours.
It then goes into the rectum where it is stored.
The rectum then sends the undigested food out through the anus
as faeces.
