Science Skills – Grade 4 Germination

 
When a seed is planted and develops into a young plant. The young plant is called an embryo, at first sign of growth one part grows out and upwards to form the shoot system and the other part grows out and downwards to form the root system.  This is known as seed germination. The seed provides food for the young plant.
